The P.N.Z. & A.R.M. Co.'s s.s. Tararua, left Melbourne at.2.15 p.m. on 28th ult., passed Port Phillip Heads at 5.30 p.m., and Swan Island at 1 p.m. on 29th. On the thwe following days experienced strong southerly and south west galeß, with heavy sea, necessitating the engines to be worked slow. At 3 a.m. on the 31st, the engines working slow, a heavy sea broke on board, smashing starboard boat rails, and knocking in side of deckhouse ; at 9.10 a.m. on 2nd, made the Solander, and arrived at Bluff at 3.30 p.m. same day. The Tararua has 135 tons cargo for this port, and carries on a full complement of passengers for Northern Ports, including 25 Chinese.
