(FBOM OUB OWN COBBESPOBTpEKT). Saturday, August 15. The water in Lyttelton Harbor receded this morning at 4s a.m., and then, a tidal wave, twenty feet high, came up with alarming rapidity. The shipping in the harbor suffered serious damageThe wave retired leaving a great portion of the harbor dry. The, water has been rising and .ailing frequently ever since, and is at nearly ita, old level now, (4 p.m.) The water continues to be violently agitated. At Akaroa and Kaiapoi the wave rose 4 feet.
