Mbbchandise, Paem Peodttck &c.— Our sales have been numerous, but of too miscellaneous a description to partioularize. Country orders hare been on a mall scale, necessitating the breaking of bulk to fulfil.

> RtrsSßi.il & M'CoiiLOirGH report r ider date 7th August : — Or • of the m< rket for the last month for transmission by this mail is necessarily of a more limited description, as we are in the midst of the dullest season of the year, it is, however, most satisfactory that our province will hear comparison with any portion...of'.liho-oolomo^pfor-general commercsr"soundness and an absence of over-trading or reckless speculation. Hobses.— This market has been well, supplied both with ' nported and provincial bred stock, and our Saturday's sales have received an average amount of attention. The first lot we have to notice is the shipment of Mr Isaac Gidney, Melbourne, whose name as a selector of serviceable horses is invariably a guarantee for a strong muster of intending purchasers, and we were enabled to dispose of the whole consignment and render account sales on the same day ; the nett proceeds exhibiting an average of L 27 per head, and Bhowing a margin highly encouraging to the sb'pper. We were equally aucoessrol 'i obtair'jg satisfactory rates at Woodlands, our sale at which station attracted the notice of both town and country buyers, owing to the breed be'ig of so high a class (the mares in foal to 'Thane of Cljde.') Theprices werea'ised were : — Hacks from Ll4 to L 25; Draught, from L 27 to L 62. Messrs M'Menamin Brother's contracting plant, consisting of drays, and heavy draught mares and horses, was offered by us last Saturday. The former and a number of the latter were bought in by the vendors, who had fully tested their capabilities, and would not submit to any sacrifice, and the rest changed hands at from £37 to £4A. We have now on view and for positive Bale by auction to-morrow, another importation, selected with great care in the Titorian markets, consisting Jof first-class hacks and including the celebrated steeple-chase horn, "Beniciaßoy." OATHS. — Transactions, with the exception of sales of fat sock to meet t'ae requirements of trade consumption, continue very limitad, holders being very firm in their demands. An enquiry still exists for dairy purposes, cows in calf and frith calves at foot being eagerly sought for at previous quotations. The mob of 100 head on the Otago side, which we formerly advised as under offer, consisting of 70 cows and 30 Bteers, have been quitted at a shade unier our submitted rate of LB. Sheep. — This market is especially inaet'ye, sales being almost entirely confined to the necessity of the consumers. The , Leicester ewes which we disposed of on the 24th ult. only realised a little over 30s — an absence of speculation being evinced. Shbbf akj> Cattib Stations. — Until the setting in of Spring we hardly anticipate to find a disposition to invest ; we are expecting then some of our Victorian constituents to inspect the advantages held out for settlement in this Province. The station we have placed under offer on the Otago side, as already advised in our ■weekly report, is all but closed. We would call especial attention to the ' Eozelle ' farm of M Hamilton, placed in our hands for sale, which will test the market, being of a most superior description, consisting of 620 acres (320 in English grass) substantial house, and every convenience — " i thorough wor 1 *ng order. Towjtand Couktbt Axt/>t3ibnts. — Our sales include : — Cainpbelltown Hundreds, one acre, on ■which is erected a substantial house &c., and several allotments in M'Master's Estate. We purpose reserving one day periodically for sales of this description, being the best means of encouraging competition.
