WELLINGTON.

(fbomottb own- cobbespondent:) ♦ - ■-" WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. The debate on Mr Fox's motion still drags on. Last night Mr Bichmond spoke for two hour hours, but it was merely a repetition of Mr Stafford's speech. Tareha and Mete Kingi next spoke, their speeches being interpreted by Mr Mackay. Mr Yogel spoke for two and a half hours, making the best speech that has been made this session. On the motion of Mr Harrison, the member for the West Coast, the debate was adjourned to this evening. No further news from the seat of war. "Wellincktojt, Aug. 6. The debate on Colonialism versus Provincialism, was resumed by Mr Harrison, the member for the West Coast. Mr Harrison, in the course of his remarks, confined himself principally to Westland. He brought forward arguments and figures to prove that the Q-overnment of the County of Westland, although much abused as costly and inefficient, was actually less costly and extravagant than older provinces; whilst at the same time public works were pushed on with a greater vigor. He cordially approved of the County Council system. There was, the speaker said, something contaminating in the Provincial form of Government. No person could hold office under it without going into the same old groove of jobbery, &c. He would cordially support the Stafford Ministry as long as their policy would accord with the principles of local self-government. Messrs George, Graham, Bunny, Borlase, Cox and A. Clark followed. The political parties on both sides are mustering strong. The debate was again adjourned. i
