Public Notices BYE-LAWS PASSED BY THE WARDENS OF THE FOREST HILL HUNDRED AT A MEETING HELD ON 27th MAY, 1868. I. — That any person depasturing stock of any description on the said Hundred, who shall not have taken out a depasturing license, shall forfeit and pay for such offence & sum not exceeding five pounds, and the cattle may be impounded in any public pound. II. — That no person shall be allowed to depasture more than one head of cattle over the age of six months for every three acres of land, which he or she occupies in the Hundred ; and any person depasturing more than specified, shall forfeit and pay for any such offence a sum not exceeding five pounds. 111. — All stock over the age of six months depastured on the Hundred, shall be branded with the registered brand of the owners thereof, and any unbranded stock found on the Hundred above the age of six months may be impounded, and dealt with according lo law. IV. — ISfo diseased cattle shall be depastured on the H undred, and any one who shall turn out or depasture any diseased beast, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds. VI. — Any person wilfully disturbing or harrassing stock depasturing on the Hundred, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds, provided always that a holder of a depasturing license within the Hundred, or any person duly authorised in bis or her behalf, may drive such stock f.or the purpose of collecting such as belong to him or her, and for the free and legitimate use of his or her right of pasturage within the Hundred : but in the event of it being necessary for such purpose to drive any stock belonging to any other person a greater distance than half a mile, the person so driving such stock must take them to the nearest available stockyard, and there separate his or her own from those of any other person, and return the latter to the place from which they were driven, failing to do so shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds. VII. — Any person removing stock beyond the Hundred, other than those belonging to him or her, or for the removal of which he or she shall not have an authority, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds, VIII. — Any stock not being the property of, or which are not branded with the registered brand of the holder of license under which they are depastured or which are depastured on the Hundred in contradiction of any bye-law duly passed, may be impounded, and the owner or custodian of such stock may be proceeded against for trespass, and shall forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding five pounds. IX. — That any person intending to travel with or drive cattle through the said Hundred into any adjoining Hundred, freehold or leasehold, shall give not less than twenty-four hours notice in writing, stating the number, brands, and other particulars of such stock, to the nearest Warden, who, upon being satisfied that such stock are free from disease, shall give a written authority to the owner or party in charge of such stock for driving through the said Hundred ; provided always that cattle of hona fide travellers oa their journey when turned out, be not considered trespassers if not more than three nights in the same neighborhood, failing to do so, shall forfeit, and pay for every such offence, a sum not -exceeding five pounds. X. — That any sheep running upon unenclosed land in the said Hundred, shall be removed within twenty-eight days of publication of the said bye-laws, also, any cattle not being the property of freeholders, shall, if not removed within the same period, be impounded and dealt with according to law. XI. — All, or any of the acts authorised by these bye-laws, may be enforced by any of the Wardens, Bangers, or
