DEATH OF EX-PRESIDENT BUCHANAN.
James Buchanan, the fifteenth President of the United States, died of pleuro-pneumonia at his residence, "Wheatland, Perm., on the morning of Ist June, in the seventy-seventh year of his age. He had been ill for some months, but was getting better, until the recent wet weather caused a relapse. On Sunday his physician had hopes of his recuperation ; but toward night he began to sink rapidly and exhibit the symptons of early dissolution. Such of his relatives and friends as could be summoned were with him in his last moments. He prayed and took the Sacrements at 6 o'clock on Monday morning. " G-od bless my Country" were the last words expressed by him, and they were repeated by him several times in a whisper. One of his latest requests was, that Ex-President Pierce, Filmore and President Johnson be invited to attend his funeral. He was buried on the 4th inst, in Woodward Hill Cemetery, near Lancaster, Perm, Funeral services were held at "WheatlaDd, and were largely attended, committees from New York, Philadelphia, and other places, being present. The Mayor and Council of Lancaster, and fire companies, and delegates from all religious sects and the public schools of that place, together with many persons from abroad, attended the body to the grave. At a meeting of the Lancaster Bar, resolutions were adopted eulogistic of the deceased.
