THE YORKSHIRE WOOLLEN MARKETS.
May 21. — The tone of the wool market is on e rather of quietness, though there is a steady business doing. Most spinners are well supplied with wool, and buy only sparingly. In the expectation of a heavy clip, there is a general disposition to wait to see what prices can be realised and established. Prices depend generally upon the position of the holders. As a rule, wools of good quality, which are scarce, are pretty firm, while middle and inferior sorts are very weak. In worsted yarns, notwithstanding the apparent quietness, there iB a steady businesss doing. There is more inquiry for low 30's and 40 's for export. The demand for home account, though less brisk, still continues steady. There is a decline in the demand for genappe and two-fold yarns, although quotations for the latter continue firm. There is, however, a great deal of irregularity in price. The piece market is again quiet. Makers of fancy goodß are receiving fair orders. The American merchants are abroad, and operating to some extent, but their operations are confined more to the purchase from stock of articles suitable for the present season than in giving orders for immediate delivery. A good many foreign buyers have been in the market, though -their, operations have been limited. The home merchants confine their operations tojfancy goods. Prices are firm. .
