Whelan has been committed for trial for the assassination of MrD'Arcy M'Gee. It is reported that evidence has been discovered which proves that the murder was planned by 40 Fenians, that lots were cast as to who should execute the deed, and that the lot fell to Whelan. Two detectives have testified to overhearing Whelan admit the murder of Mr M'Gee to alleged accomplices in gaol. Mr D'Arcy M'Gee was buried at Montreal in April 13, and 20,000 persons joined the funeral procession. The Canadian Parliament has adopted an address of indignation and of sympathy with the Queen at the attempted murder of the Duke of Edinburgh. The House of Commons has passed a bill providing for- the family of the late Mr M 4 G_e. The Canadian House of Commons have unanimously elected Mr Ryan to succeed Mr M'Gee. The House bf Commons of the Canadian: Dominions has appropriated £1,000,000 for fortifications.
