WELLnraTOir, Thursday. — Nine tenders were received yesterday for the erection of the imported iron bridge at Wanganui. The lowest amount was for £12,500, by Mr M'Neill, of Auckland, and the highest was for £20,097. Cheistchubch, Friday.— Holmes and Co., without previous notice, hare stopped traffic on the Lyttelton and Christchurch Eailway this morning. The ostensible reason is because Government has notified that it would take the line into its own hands on the Ist of August. Great excitement prevails both with the public and the Government on the subject. The Provincial Council wai opened at 2 o'clock to-day. His Honor's Bpeech was unimportant. There is no alteration to note in the price of breadstuffs. . - ;
