The M.A. and ~S.Z. Cos. s.s. Alhambra, Capt. M'Lean, left Port Phillip Heads at 7 ; p.m. on the 6th inst. ; passed Swan Island nt 2>30 p.m. on the 7th. From the time of starting until Monday night Bth met with light favorable winds; on Tuesday morning wind veered to the eastward, gradually increasing to a heavy gale with a very high confused sea, necessitating the ship being hove to for 48 hours, when the gale abating the engines were again started j passed the Solanders at 4 p.m. on the 14th, and anchored off the Bluff at 10 p.m. j steamed to the wharf at daylight on the 15th. Th« 8.8. Otago left Melbourne at 3 p.m. on the 12th ; experienced a strong easterly wind first 13 hours, latter part fresh breeze from south; passed the Solander Island at 8.45 a.m., and arrived at the Bluff at 3 p.m. on the 17th. She reports the s.s. Auckland having left Melbourne on the 10th for Hokitika, and East Coast ports. The b.s. Otago passed the p.s. Southland, rom Hokitika to Melbourne, in Bank's Straits. The steamship Omeo, 1000 tons, Hugh Mackie, commander, cleared Port Phillip Heads at 6 p.m. on the 18t.h; experienced ligut JST. and N.B. winds until the morning of the 23rd ; then strong S.E. gales; sighted the West Cape at 4 a.m. on the 24th ; hove to in the Straits at 8 p.m. same day ; entered Bluff Harbor at 7 a.m. on 25th. The schooner James Paxton, Captain Qreig, left Dunedin on Tuesday last, and experienced light calm weather throughout, arriving at the Invercargill Jetty yesterday afternoon.
