, -The Auckland has been running very well round tbe coast, and has a very large cargo for this port. She left Port Chalmers on the 26th at 9 p.m., having arrived there the same morning, and during tbe day discharged 180 tons of cargo. H.M.S. Rosario, sloop of war, Commander G. -Palmer, arrived in port on Sunday last shortly after mid-day. She left Auckland on Friday, the sth, with the, Governor on board, and arrived at Tauranga next day. On Monday, the Bth, the Governor, accompanied by the captain and oiiicers. of the man-of-war, went in the Sturt *''■' to Maketu, where a war dance was given, by Ithe friendly natives. A guard of seamen, armecl with tho Snider breach-loading rifle, accompanied the Uuvernor as a guard of honor. On Tuesday, the
Bth, the Rosario left Tauranga, and on the 10th ' '. met the Sturt at White Island, and the Governor, : the captain and officers of the Rosario, disem- 1 barked and visited the sulphur springs. — Weilington Independent, June 16. CaptaraScully, of the Lerwick, reports that on the 24th inst. Mr Harrold launched, at Stewart's Island, a splendid schooner capable of carrying '. 150 tons'. . : She is intended for the inter-colonial trade. Before leaving the ways the vessel was < christened the Margaret by Mr 3 Harrold. The s.s. Gothenburg, Captain Underwood, left Hobson'a Bay at 3 p.m. on the 25th inst. ; passed Port Philip Heads at 6, and Cape Sohanck at 8 > p.m. same night, and Swan Island at 3 p.m. on the 26th. Experienced fine weather .and light ■•; northerly winds throughout the passage ; passed the Solander at 8 a.mfon the 30th, and arrived : at Bluff Harbor at 3 p.m. same day. The Gothenburg brings twenty tonß cargo for Bluff, and a large quantity for other New Zealand ports. Passed s.b. Auckland at noon on the 29th, 190 miles N.W. Solander Island. The P.NIZ: & A.R.M. Co.'s b.s. Tararua, James Hagley, Commander, cleared Port Phillip Head 3 at 6 p.m. on 27th June j experienced north and easterly winds with fine weather till Ist in t, when thick weather with hard squalls and heavy sea succeeded; eased engines at midnig'it; passed the Solander at 7 a.m., and arrived at Bluff at 2 p.m. 2nd inst.
: The following report of the Gothenburg, Captain Thomas Underwood, on her last trip from Melbourne and back, is taken from the " Argus "of the 14th inst. The s.s. G-othenburg left Hobson's Bay at six p.m. on the 26th ult., passed Port Phillip Heads at nine, and Cape Schanck at half-past ten the same night. Experinced fine weather and light winds on the first part of tlie passage, and strong westerlywinds on the latter. Made the Solander at six am. on the 31st, and entered Bluff Harbor at nine a.m. the same day, making the passage m four days thirteen hours. Sailed again at four p.m., and arrived in Port Chalmers at daylight on the Ist inst. After discharging and taking on board a quantity of cargo for New Zealand ports | and Melbourne, she sailed for Lyttelton at three p.m. on the 2nd, and arrived at seven a.m. on the 3rd, making the passage in sixteen hours. After taking on board 150 tons of cargo she sailed for Wellington, at five p.m. on the 4th, and entered Wellington Heads at seven am. on the sth, making the run in fourteen hours; sailed again at half-past four the same day, and arrived off Nelson at four a.m. on the 6th ; discharged cargo and received 240 bales of wool for Melbourne, and sailed again at nine o'clock the same night; arrived off Greymoyth at sev?u p.m. on the 7th ; was tendered by the etnaraar Persevere, and proceeded on her passage to Hokitika, arriving there at one a.m. on the Bth; lauded passengers and forty tons of cargo, and sailed for Melbourne at four p.m. the same day. On the run up fine weather was experienced throughout. The Gothenburg passed Sisters Island at seven a.m. on the 13th, and Wilson's Promontory at six p.m., and entered Port Pillip Heads at five a.m. yesterday. The Gothenburg on her present trip has brought a full cargo of oats and wool, a large number of passengers, and 2,4000z. of gold. She leaves Melbourne again on the 25th inst., and will arrive as advertised on the 30th to-morrow, sailing again for all the Northern Ports, including the Thames goldfield.
