rpHE following Proclamation is repubJL lished from the " Provincial Government Gazette," dated 14th November, 1866, for general information. By order, "W, H. AYLMER, Clerke to Superintendent. Superintendent's Ofiice, Southland, sth June, 1868. PROCLAMATION By the Honorable John Paeein Tatloe, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Southland. IN pursuance of the power in me vested . I do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the day of the date hereof, all that portion of the Province of Otago, as described in the Schedule following shall be and be deemed to be an infected District within the meaning of the " Diseased Cattle Act, 1861," and that any person who may be desirous of removing any cattle from out of the said Infected District into the Province of Southland, and thereafter driving the same in the said Province must comply with the Regulations hereto appended. Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of this Province this fourteenth day of November, One thousand eight hundaed and sixty-six. John P. Tatloe, Superintendent. SCHEDULE. All that portion of the Province of Otago, lying to the East and North East of the following boundary. Commencing at the mouth of the Mataura River ; thence by the Mataura River to a point where the road from InvercargilJ to Kingston crosses ; thence by the road aforesaid to Kingston; thence by the "West bank of "Wakatipu Lake to the Greenstone River; thence by the Greenstone River to the Lake M'Kellar ; thence by Lake M'KeUar to its North bank ; thence by a line from the North bank of the Lake M'Kellar to the junction of the Stoney Creek with the Hollyford River ; thence by the Hollyford River to Lake M'Kerrow ; thence by the West Bank of Lake M'Kerrow to the seaboard. REGULATIONS REFERRED TO IN THE FOREGOING PROCLAMATION. 1. Any person who is desirous of driving or removing or of causing to be driven or removed any Cattle from or out of the Infected District above described into the Province of Southland shall first obtain after inspection a certificate from the Inspector or one of the Inspectors of the said Infected District in the form of the Schedule hereto annexed or to the effect thereof, which certificate shall be sufficient authority to drive or remove such Cattle from out of such Infected District and into the Province of Southland, but such Cattle must be I put across the river Mataura at the following places only — viz., the Long Ford; the Tutura Ferry; the Pyramid Ford ; and Menzie's Ferry. 2. Any person having crossed Cattle after having complied with the provisions of the foregoing Regulation shall before driving or removing such Cattle from the immediate neighborhood of such crossing place, first obtain after inspection a Certificate from one of the ,Cattle Inspectors for the Province, likewise in the form of the Schedule hereto annexed, or to the effect thereof which Certificate shall be a sufficient authority to drive or remove such Cattle from such crossing place on the Mataura River to any part of the Province of Southland. The Inspector, provided he is not a salaried Government Officer, shall be entitled to fees at the rate of Two Pounds P e^ diem during the time he may be employed, and every Inspector shall be entitled to travelling expenses at the rate of one shilling and sixpence per mile one way, for granting certificates for the removal of such cattle out of his district, which fees shall be paid before inspection by the person applying for such examination and. certificate as aforesaid. Schedule. I do hereby certify that I have authorised (name, residence, aad description of owner of Cattle, or person having charge thereof,) to drive or remove the undermentioned Cattle from and out of the Infected District of ( ).
