THE CRICKET GROUND.

(to the editob or thb southland dimes). Sib, — Permit me to call your attention to the state of the Cricket Ground, which is being daily cut up by vehicles of every description ; one-half of it is already cut up, and the rest is daily encroached upon. What are our cricketers about, and why do they thus allow their reserve (which has been cleared and fenced at no little expense) to be thus mutilated? Have they become as careless and apathetic as the rest of the promoters of the different bodies which have started here ? Surely, Sir, the only spot of recreative ground near the town should be protected. Have 1 the police no power to act in this matter, [ and put a stop to further intrusion. — ■ I am, &c, Istquibeb. ' Invercargill, 6th June, 1868.
