Hakaria, a new prophet, and his party oppose the peacefully inclined King Tawhio. It is expected the two parties will fight. At present they are quiet, but hostilities may break out at any moment. A band of fourteen Europeans have gone to Opotiki from Auckland to intercept the Maori spies passing between hostile and friendly natives. The expedition is condemned by the ' Southern Cross.' Wellington, Thursday. — Mr Bunny has not yet been able to form an Executive for the want of a Solicitor. He is now rnoviag for the introduction of a bill to despense with that as a political office. Dunedes", Friday. — In the Dunedin Provincial Council last evening, the lalaries of the Superintendent, Treasurer, md Land and Works were each reduced 6200 per annum.j
