The "Age" of 25th May saya :— "The P.N.Z. & A.B.M. Co.'s s.s. Tararua keeps np her reputation as a reliable boat. She left this port on the 2nd inßtant, and has been round the New Zealand ports, making very rapid passages, and finally leaving the Bluff with the English mails for transmission per Bombay on the 17th : has made a passage which deserves recording. From the day of her leaving the Bluff to sighting the northern portion of Tasmania, she never had an opportunity of setting canvass, the wind being dead a-head and very strong, and the Bea fearfully high. It is a matter of congratulation to the Company that they carry out their contract under such circumstances, but it iB a noted fact that the Tararua always gets in to time, even in the face of such adverse winds as were experienced on the present occasion.
