The Hamilton biings Australian files to the 21st inst. The " Argus "of that date contains the following commercial article : — "We have very little business to report to-day. Kerosene has again come into some domand, a good inquiry existing for the neighboring colonies, for which price (for goods to load in the bay) can be obtained Blightly better than thpse on the spot. A good business has been done in teas, which have now mostly passed into the hands of one firm. The market has certainly been improved by the operations of the last few daya. In breadstuffs we have little to report. Trade lots of Victorian flour continue to change hands at from £20 to £20 10 a. Maize is firm at 4s. There is some busirießS in oata, of which there have been large arrivals from New Zealand, for which from 3s lOd to 4s is asked. We hear of nothing having been done in tobaccoes or candles. The sale of city and suburban properties by Messrs Greig and Murray was so far successful that a large number of properties pasaed under the hammer. For the Collins-street lot, | next the National Bank, however, having a frontage of twenty-five feet, only £180 per foot was bid, the reserve price being £200 per foot.
