Telegraphic Despatches.
"Wellington, 16th May. — Mr Williams having refused to go to Rangitikei, the natives had no counsel to conduct the remaining claims. The Court commented strongly on this abandonment, and consequent frustrating of justice, merely because one case had gone against the counsel, and afterwards dismissed all the cases. — The Panama Company's new warehouse was opened by a dinner to their employes and their families. 200 were present. — Sunday. — A fire broke out on the beach at one o'clock this morning. The following buildings were wholly destroyed: — South Sea Hotel, James' steam furnace establishment, Moffatt's dentistry, Kaae's drapery, Carmont's butcher's shop. Messrs Armstrong, saddler, "Webb, cabinet-maker, Cohen, tobacconist, Brown, grocer, partially burned. Kane was insured for £4000, hotel, £1000, James, £LO00; others mostly for smaller amounts. The Liverpool, London, and Grlobe Office is the principal sufferer. The night was perfectly calm.
