TAEPING.
The Nienfei and the Mahommedan rebels have united within fifty miles of Tieu-tain, and they are said to have gained several important victories. A strong body of the Imperialist forces have been sent out against them. Sir Henry Parkes. has paid a visit to the Mikado, and was very favorably received. Five Japanese were attacked and wounded — part of the return escort. Three of their assailants have been captured. It is reported that the French Minister has demanded 165,000d01. as compensation for the murder of the French sailors, and that eleven Japanese, who were concerned in the murder, should be executed. The Mikado is consolidating his position, and intends to occupy Jeddo. The resignation and retirement of Stotisbashi is confirmed.
