The s.s. Auckland left Sandridge on the 26th, at 1.30 a.m. ; passed through the Heads at 5 p.m. off WUson's promonatory at 6 p.m. ; passed Kent's group at 12.30 a.m. on the 27th, and cleared the land at 4 p.m. From thence, Ught S.W. winds prevafled until 8 p.m. of the 30th, when the wind backed to N.W., from which quarter it blew with' great violence, accompanied with vivid lightning and heavy thunder ; at 2.30 a.m., May Ist, rounded ship to, close reefed fore and aft canvas ; «tt this time it was blowing a perfect humcane,jrrf tended with a heavy confused sea. ~£t~(x3o "a.m., sighted Stewart's Island, and made for the Bluff, where she arrived at 1.30 p.m., making the passage in 5 days 12 hours. From this must be deducted time stopped for temporary repairs to pumps while off Cape Schank, viz., 3 hours — also time hove-to off Stewart's Island — 4 hours. This wUI give for the clear run, 5 days, 5 hours The s.s. Gothenburg, Capt. Underwood, left Hobson's Bay at 4 p.m. on the 25th; passed Port Philip Heads at 7 p.m., and Cape Schank at 8.30 same night, and Swan Island at 5 p.m. on the 26th; experienced fine weather the first part of the passage, ana since the 28th strong gales from the N.W. to S.W., wifch heavy sea running. Passed the Solanders at 1 p.m. od the 30th, arriving at the "Bluff afc 7 p.m. same day.
