The s.s. Claud Hanilton, John Vine Hall, commander, left the Sandridge Pier at 2 p.m. on the 21st ; passed the P.N.Z. Co.'s s.s. Auckland in the Bay ; cleared the Heads at 6.20 p.m. ; on 22nd, 5.30 p.m., passed Swan Island ; had fresli W.N.W. to S.W. breezes up to the 25th, when the wind increased to a strong gale from W.N.W. to S.W., with hard aqualls and a heavy sea. At 2 p.m. 26th. passed the Solander, and hove-to at 8 p.m. in the Straits for ihe night, and arrived in the Bluff at 8 a.m. on 29th. The Claud brings six passengers and twenty-five tons cargo for this port. r The Celaeno hove off from the wharf yesterday afternoon, but on account of the gale of westerly winds which we have had for the last three days she did not proceed to sea, but brought up at the lower anchorage. In getting away from the wharf she grounded on the opposite bank, but came oft again as the tide made. Capt. Renaut intends proceeding to sea on the first indication of finer weather. The s.B. Airedale, for Hokitika, is also waiting a slant to get away. Captain Kennedy intends calling at Preservation Inlet on h's way round to relieve the party who hare for some time been there prospecting for coal.
