It is stated that the Austrian Minister i of War ia making great changes for the purpose of reducing the army. The post of coinmander-in-chief is to be suppressed, and many of the officers of the staff are to be pensioned off. Promotion is also to be limited until 1870. Austria, perhaps more than any other country in Europe, has need of repose and economy. Lake, Erie, is fed by an underground stream that is seventy feet deep where it enters the earth, and does not reappear until its waters have mingled with those of the lake. ... .
