OATMEAL MORE NUTRITIOUS THAN WHEAT.
The following playful comparison between the relative alimentary powers of oatmeal and wheaten flour, is copiedfrom a useful article on Practical Agriculture, in Blackwood's ' Magazine' :— Professor Johnston, in the recent addition of his Elements of Agricultural Chemistry and 7 Geology, tells us that, from experiments made in the laboratory ofthe Agricultural Chemistry Association of Scotland, it - turns out that oats are far richer in inuacular matter, fat, and starch, than the best wheat flour grown in any part of England — tbat they contain eighteen or twenty per cent, of that which forms - muscle, five to eight of fat, and sixty fire of starch.
