The Maria brings a large cargo of agricultural machinery, shipped by Messrs Morton, of Glasgow, for the Company's stations in Southland and Otago. The s.s. Tararua, Captain Hagley, left Port Chalmers on the 24th mat, at 6 p.m., and arrived at Bluff Harbor wharf next morning at 9 a.m. t-ince her last visit to this place she has been to Sydney for an overhaul; and, since leaving Sydney, has been pwvihg her steaming capabilities, in making a series of very rapid passages down the coast, She has on board a large number < of passengers en route for Queensland via Melbourne. After discharging her inward cargo and passengers, and embarking her outward, including the Suez mails, she left again at 12 noon bound for Melbourne. The s.s, Claud Hamilton, John Vine Hall, Commander, left Sandridge at 4 p.m. of the 20th, with the Suez mail. Cleared the Heads at 7.50 ; passed Swan Island at 6 p.m. on the 21st. . Had fresh N.W. winds and fine weather till the 24th, when the weather became thick, with showers of small rain. Eased engines from 6 p.m. of the 25th till 6 a.m. of 26th, on account of the fog.
