A second resolution was proposed by the Rev. M. Williams, Roman Catholic priest, to the following effect : — " That this meeting desires to express deep and heartfelt sympathy with His Eoyal Highness's severe illness, consequent upon the dastardly attack upon his life, and also expresses fervent hope that the Almighty may spare His Eoyal Highness for a long life of usefulness and happiness." \ The third resolution was proposed by Mr Larneah ; — "That this meeting desires to express its hope that, should His Eoyal Highness be sufficiently recovered, he will still adhere to his original intention j of visiting New Zealand, in order that the colonists of the Great Britain of the South may give expression to the unalterable loyalty and gratitude for the providential escape of His Eoyal Highness from assassination.
