The Southland Times. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 1868.

In consequence of the length of the very interesting official report of Mr Armstrong to his Honor the Superintendent, which appears in our other columns, we are obliged to hold over leader, locals, letter?, &c, until a future issue. The summary for transmission to Europe via Panama will appear in Friday's issue. Mr Moffatt's tender has been accepted for the construction of a bridge over the Ofcautau. The price is £643. We remind our readers of the iale of new crop Mauritius sugars which takes place at the jetty sheds this day, at noon. As the lots are pretty numerous, Mr Todd, the auctioneer, will commence business promptly at the hour named. On Monday night Mrs Heir made her third appearance before an Invercargill audience. The pieces selected were the petite comedie of " Delicate Ground," and the farce of the " Sough Diamond." The favorable impression which Mrs Heir made in her previous appearances was, on this occasion, fully sustained, and the buratß of applause, with which she was received throughout, Bhowod that her merits were fully appreciated

by the audience. She was supported in both pieces by Mr Sefton and Mr Inglis, and Mr Wotton. rendered good service as " Cousin Joe," in the " Rough Diamond." A word of praise is also due to the gentleman ■who enacted " Lord Plato " in the latter piece. He did not seem quite at home on the stage, but yet the character was a genuine bit of acting. To-night Mrs Heir takes her benefit, and makes her last appearance. She will be assisted, on this occasion, by the members of the Amateur Dramatic Club. The programme is varied and attractive, and if the merits of the leneficiaire meet with even an approximate recognition, the House will be a bumper one.
