Left on the 9th, at Ip.ru. ; met with fine weather, and arrived at Port Chalmers on the 10th at noon. Left Port Chalmers on Wednesday, I2th at 6 p.m. Met with foggy weather along the coast, and arrived off Bluff at 4.30 p.m. on the I3th. Came to an anchor outside, it being quite impossible to enter with any safety, the fog having become so heavy. The ship Hydra, and barque Anna, bound for Newcastle, N.S.W., also the barque Ethels, bound for London, aailed from the wharf today. In clearing the wharf, each ship in rotation, went through the usual naval honors of dipping her ensign, which was duly acknowledged by the ■hipping. The s.s. Tararua left Sandridge on the evening of the 27th ult., at 5.15 p.m. j off Queenscliff at 7.30; cleared the heads at 8; passed the Schank at 10.15 ; made Swan Island on the 28th at 11p.m.; passed the Soland«rs at 11 a.m. on the Ist Feb., and finally arrived at the Bluff at
5 p.m. same day. Experienced strong galea to the Swan 5 hence to within a day's sail of the Solanders, E.N.E. weather with heavy sea ; since, , fine and favorable. The Tararua brings a good ; general freight for Southland, with a number of passengers. The ship Hydra, Captain Rich, sailed from the ■ SandrUge Pier on the 23rd ult , and anchored at Port Phillip Heads in consequence of a strong . head wind. On the 24th, the wind suddenly • shifted to the N.E., and blew strong. Owing to < the now altered position of the vessel, she was ( placed in considerable danger of going ashore; and, to avoid such a disagreeable alternative, she was obliged to slip an anchor and chain. Experia enced on the passage light northerly winds, wita fine weather. Passed the Solander at 4 p.m. on he Ist inst., and arrived here at 4 p.m. on the 2nd. The s.s. Wellington left Dunedin at 5 p.m. on 13th, and had fine weather down j arrived at Bluff at 8 30 a.m. on 14th. The Ethels left thißport with a fair wind j it is expected that she will make a swift passage home, as she is in splendid sailing trim. The Hydra and Anna brought up at the pilot station, wind bound, but left again on Sunday morning at 9 a.m., with a fair easterly breeze. Captain Renant, of the ship Celeano, reports having left Otago Heads on Thursday, 6th Feb., at 11 30 a.m. ; encountered heavy S.W. gales, and was driven up as far as Oamaru. Whilst standing off that roadsted, being about three miles off the land, saw nothing of the ship Star of Tasmania, and Water Nymph. Had these vesseh been riding at anchor in the roadsted they should have been visible. Sighted the Wm. Miskin from North, making for Oamaru. Saturday Bth, had N.E. winds, passed Otago Heads at 4 p.m., on Sunday 9th, in company with the e.s. Waihopai; and arrived alongside the Bluff Harbor wharf on the afternoon of Monday, 10th, at 3.30. The splendid clipper ship Celeano, commanded by Capt. Renant, arrived in this port yesterday afternoon (10th), from London, via Port Chalmers, and will commence discharging her inward cargo without delay, after which, she witl be laid on the berth for London, and will take about 3000 bales wool.
