Feb. 3rd, 2 p.m. The Town Board has voted £500 towards the Duke's reception. The Eeception Committee is canvassing the town for subscriptions. Nelson, Saturday. — A murder and suicide have been committed at Tarandale, 10 miles from Nelson. Ivanhoe Augarde, son of the landlord of the Turf Hotel, near Nelson, was engaged mustering cattle, and quarrelled with another employ known by the name of German Charlie, whom he accused of opening a letter from his sweethart. High words ' ensued, when Charlie thrashed Augarde, who then mounted his horse, and rode eleven miles to the Eainbow Hotel, borrowed a rifle, and returned and shot Charlie dead. Augarde then remounted, and rode away. The next morning he was found near the Eainbow Hotel dead, 1 with the top of his skull blown off. 1 Charlie's name is unknown. Ivanhoe ' Augarde was 25 years of age.
