(TO BE STBICTLY EN7OBOBD.) > ♦ ; — Competitors not complying with these will be subject to disqualification. 1. The Competition wiU be open to the Middle Island of N.Z. 2. The HaU wiU be open at Six o'clock on the morning of each Exhibition, and aU articles must be staged before Half* past Ten o'clock a.m. Parties wishing to send coUections the night previous wiU please communicate with the Secretary, bo that proper arrangements may be made for receiving and taking care of such. 3. Every lot for competition must be accompanied with a list of the Plants or Flowers, so far as known, and a Bealed note containing the name and address of the competitor on the outside of which must be marked the prize competed for, and the class in which he competes. 4. Every competitor must forward to the Secretary, on the morning of the Exhibition, if not previously given, the foUowing declaration: — I hereby declare that every article sent, or entered for competition in my name, has been under my management, in this place for the last two months. Must state the name or situation of the gardens. 5. Competitors not aUowed in the Exhibition Rooms while the Judges are officiaUy engaged. 6. Every competitor will, if considered necessary, be bound to satisfy the Committee that the articles brought forward for competition by them are their own bona fide productions. As thiß is intended for the special protection of competitors, the utmost discretion will be used in carrying out this rule. 7. All productions grown in a Nursery or dealer's place can only be admitted for competition in that class. 8. Competitors are not aUowed to enter more lots than one for any single Prize. Amateurs may compete with gardeners, but not Gardeners with. Amateurs. Nurserymen can only compete in their own class, and for such prizes as are open to all. 9. All Flowers unduly dressed wiU be subject to disqualification. 10. Growers are invited to contribute to the Society's Exhibitions such productions not speciaUy mentioned in the Prize List, as are likely to prove of interest, especiaUy new or recently introduced varieties of plants. The Exhibition of novelties and improvements in Garden Implements and apparatus is also invited. Seedsmen and nurserymen, as weU as the manufaturers of such articles, are invited to contribute to this department of the Exhibition. 11. The Judges aro authorized to withhold or modify the Prizes, if the articles are considered unworthy, and to recommend additional Prizes or Certificates of Merit, though not specified in the last. Judges' decision in all cases shaU be final. Protests in regard to awards are of no avail, unlesß it can be proved that the Printed Rules have been violated. 12. No party aUowed to compete without having paid the regular Entry- Money. Members are requested to provide themselves, with admission tickets before the day of competition, otherwise they will be charged at the door of the HaU as visitors. 13. Competitors and exhibitors wiU not be allowed to remove their articles until the morning after the exhibition.- Each wiU receive a card from the secretary corresponding with the number of their lot. The HaU wiU be opened at five o'clock on that morning for this purpose ; and, as this rule has been formed with a direct view to the interest of all parties, it is hoped that it will not put any Exhibitor or Competitor to inconvenience. 14* Dairy Section— The fresh butter must be made up in half-pounds, and bear the Society's print ; the powdered butter in 31b white jars. The Society's butter print and jar can be obtained from the Secretary. The Committee draw special attention to Byelaw No. 10. Intending exhibitors and others can obtain information connected with the exhibitions by appUcation to the Committee or Secretary. AU Prize-Money wiU be payable in fourteen days after each Exhibition ot the Season. Any Prize-Money not claimed within three months thereafter shall be canceUed in the books of the Society, and the amount carried to the List of the succeeding Season. The Annual general meeting 6t the Members of the Society for the Election of Office-bearers and other business wiU be held the first FRIDAY of MAY next, at 7 o'clock p.m.
