It will be observed from an advertisement in our other columns, that a meeting of the Cricket Club is called for to-night. We understand that business of importance to the members is to be discussed, and it is therefore desirable that a good attendance should be secured. Tto annual meeting of the subscribers to the InvercargilL Hospital, was held at the Council Hall, on Monday evening, 27th inst. The chair was occupied by Dr Menzies. The Secretary read the annual report, which was adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with the following' results: — President — Mr G. Lumsden j Treasurer— Mr | M'Pherson ; Secretary — Mr Crouch ; Committee, — Messrs Watson, Hare, Clerke.Tapper, Stuart, and Dr Menzies. The usual Anniversary Tea Meeting of the Wesleyan Sabbath School, took place in the School Boom, JfJbrth Road, on Tuesday evening. There was % very large attendance of the scholars, their parents and friends, the room being quite crowded. On the walls were some very appropriate mottos formed of flowers, &c, and a profusion of ferns and other decorations. After a substantial and very comfortable tea had been partaken of, the company adjournedto the Chapel in Leet-street, where suitable addresses were delivered by the Rev Mr Bunn and other gentlemen who take an interest in the work of Sabbath schools ; a numerous band of youthful choristers diversified the evening's entertainment by singing, very tastefully, some pleasing hymns. The report read by the Superintendent showed the school to be in a very satisfactory condition, so far as the attendance of scholars is concerned, but riot so good with reference to the supply of teachers, there being by far too few for the work. The committee trust that their next annual report may show an improvement iv this matter. After spending a very social, pleasant evening, the meeting was dismissed at an ealy hour with the customary benediction.
