W vernor in Council has been » pleased to delegate nnder the "Diseased I Cattle Acti 1861," to the Superintendent • of the Province of Southland, the sevefal powers vested in the Grdyemor by the i 2nd, 4th, 5th k 7th,.!9fch and 10th Sections i of the said Act, Vibject to the Eegula- • tiqns contained in the Order in Council t of ; Jst October, 1861 ; and also to delegate ' under the " Diseased Cattle Act Amend* I ment Act . 1865," the '.several powers . vested in thecG-overnor by the sth Seoi tion of the said Amended Act. ! And whereas' by a prbclamation given, under the" hand of James ALEXAKDEa EoBEETSON. Mejtzies, Esq., as Superintendent of the said Province, dated 26th December, 1862, it was declared that the Inspector, under the said Act, would riot be authorised, to grant certificate to land in the Province of Southland- Cattle coming from any of the Australian Colonies ; ; And whereas it is expedient to make further, provision in that behalf ; , A v Now, therefore, I, the said Superintend dent, in virtue of the powers in me vested, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Inspectors of Cattle in the Province of Southland, under the " Diseased Cattle Act, 1861. are, subject to the provisions of the. saidv Act, hereby authorised to grant certificates to land in the Province of Southland, Cattle shipped in the Colony of Victoria, provided that he is satisfied that the sime are free from disease and were not shipped from a district where infectious disease shall be known tp_ prevail, provided moreover that the Master of , the vessel, on board of which such Cattle shall have been, im-. ■ ported, shall.. ; deliver to such Inspector a certificate from the Collector of Customs, or, if there be no Collector of Customs, from the polide Magistrate, or from two Justices of the Peace, at the Port or place where . such cattle were shipped, to the effect that the; district Tvherein such» Port or^place is situate was to the best of his or their belief and knowledge, free from, infectious disease in Cattle at the^ time of . shipnaent, and that .".the Cattle shipped were free from any such disease; andjinVcase the master of any such vessel' shall; 'be unable to produce any sucH certificate, the said ..Inspector of Cattle shall not grant a certificate to land the Cattle on board. such : vessel until the Master shall have made a declaration in the usual statutory form before a Resident Magistrate or Justice of the Peace to the effect that such Cattle were shipped at a Port in a district free from such infectious disease aforesaid, and that such Cattle are to the 1 best of his knowledge and _belief free from such infectious disease. lAnd-I^wiliei^prQclairn and declare that the Proclamation issuedT)y meTHateS tEeT fifth day. of November, 1867, admitting cattle into the Province of Southland, from the Colony of Victoria is hereby cancelled. \ ' , ■ 1 .
