DECEMBER, 1867. Marten d alts.— December opened with a week of showery unsettled weather, the following ten days were brilliantly fine, with remarkably high barometer, which, on the Uth, stood as high as 30448 inches (corrected and reduced.) The litter half of the month was windy, with frequent showers, scarcely a day passing without more or less rain. A. very severe gale "was experienced during the afternoon and night of the 20th (N), and the morning of the 21st (W".), the pressure being occasionally nearly 24 1b to the square foot. On the 28th, the barometer suddenly fell *72 inch in 6 hours, and on the following day, another heavy northerly gale occurred, but only lasted a few hours. The rainfall on the 19ch (1012 inch), was the greatest since January. The mean height of the barometer (corrected and reduced to 33 deg at soa level), was 29 724 inches; maximum, 30*448, on 9lh; minimum, ! 28-899 ou 28th. " Mean temperature, 552 deg. — s*l deg. below nine yeare average — maximum, 777 deg. on 12th; minimum, 380 deg. (Bfch) : mean daily range, 20- 1 deg. Kadiatius — solar maximum, 112.8 d -g (Bth) ; tcrrestial minimum, 335 deg ou the same day. Rain feil on 10 Jays — total amount I*U76 ixil-li, — maximum fall, 1012 inch (19th.) Evaporation, 5*482 inches ; cloud, 51.
