The,," Ofcago Daily Times," of th3.l3th inst., contains the-following ' Commercial Intelligence :— Steady business has been going forward during, the week, though no : stir-has been apparent, and in the markets but little of interest has transpired. Breadstuff's continue without change, the quotations being £17 _10s and £22. respectivelyy for Provincial and' Adelaide ; - there has ceased to oe an/ excitement in thes* goods, and sales are only making for current requirements. Sales of sugars, though not to any considerable extent, have been made" both privately and by auction. On the 10th the cargo of the Janet Stewart was offered publicly, and some lines placed at. fair prices ; but the bulk of -the cargo failedto reach limits. Teas have been quitted, and a considerable parcel, -which changed hands, is reported as intended for shipment. Malt liquors keep very dull, a few parcels of bottled btera constituting all the business done. . Spirits have experienced improvement. Holders of brandies now ask advanced prices ; and both genevas arid whiskeys command foil rates. Building materials havehad attention and sales of timber to hand and to. arrive have been made. The cargo ofjhe Eorge has left the importers' hands, and partially resold. The market is now comparatively full, both of iron and timber. Malt and hops, still realise high prices. Kerosene keeps at last quotations; but there is no disposition to speculate in the article. Hemp goods are not asked for. Generally, market values are about the same as those of the previous week, and there is no alteration in prospects for any, particular goods. The price of flour has suddenly riseji from £L 7 to £22 per ton, in Marlborough.
