The Southland Times. MONDAY. JANUARY 13, 1868.
Friday evening's sitting in the ProvmciardouneiT was occupied chiefly by the adjourned debate on the motion for centralization by Mr Pearson, •which was ultimately withdrawn. The motions pursuant to notice were of very little public interest. The House went into committee on the Licensing Bill, the third reading of which was made an order of the day for next sitting. The consideration of the Appropriation Ordinance was postponed until next sitting. In the Provincial Council at Saturday's sitting, Dr Hodgkinson's motion, that all monies voted for road works should be apportioned by per centage, was carried. Mr Daniel's motion for £12 10b tq.Clerk of the Court at Biverton, was withdrawn. The " licensing Ordinance " was read a third time, and passed. The House went into Committe on the Estimates, and passed about one half the items with few alterations, one important one being the insertion of £5,000, for immigration. The Council adjourned shortly after 5 o'clock, until 11 o'clock this day.
