The defeat of the Garabaldians took place on the 3rd November. A violent storm has taken place at St. Thomas. The town is in ruins. Eive mail steamers and fifty sailing vessels were wrecked. The cyclone of Calcutta caused great loss on shore. Several vessels were dismasted, and the steamer Orissa was wrecked. The transport Bosphorus was wrecked in Algo Bay ; forty-five lives were lost. The first portion of the Abyssinian expedition hda landed at Zula, twenty miles from Mussowah. Mr Disraeli was warmly received in Edinburgh. Two policemen have beenshot in Dublin. A reward of £1000 has been offered for the discovery of the murderers.
