The Southland Times. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1867.
By the arrival of the Gothenburg and Tararua, at Bluff Harbor, on Tuesday, the 3rd inst., we are in receipt of complete files of Australian papers. The Victorian press is almost completely filled with flowing descriptions of the reception of His Royal Highness Pbhtce Alfbed. Nothing in the Colony, it would appear, has ever equalled the enthusiasm manifested by the citizens of Melbourne in welcoming the son of the Queen. In order to place before our readers a faithful narrative of the events of the Royal visit, we are obliged to hold over subjects of local interest. A detailed account of the reception, taken from the Argus, appears in our other columns.
The Governor of H.M. G-aol begs to acknowledge, through these columng, the receipt of a number of books from Edmund Eogerg, Esq., as a donation towards the G-aol Library.
