Oartek. — Afc Guernsey, Channel Islands, 27th July, Colonel William Frederick Carter, C. B. Commanding H.M. 63rd (tho West Suffolk) Regiment of Foot, . deeply and sincerely regretted by his brother officers. Colonel Carter served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1554-55 with the Regiment, including tho battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerraann ; expedition to Eerteh ; 6eige, assaults, and fail of Sebastopol (succeeded to the command of the regiment at the last attack) ; bombardment <and capture of Kinbourn. Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, Knight of the Legion of Honor ; sth Class of the Medjidie, Turkish Medal, .j and Companion of the Honorable Order of '"the Bath, ior distinguished and ga^.ant conduct in the field.
