Thb Expobt Coal Trade. — The exports of coal from the United Kingdom, we find in the " Times," amounted in Februrary — the expres- " sion "coal" comprising cinders and culm — to 622,069 tons, as compared with 564,158 tons in Februrary, 1866, and 534,482 tons in Februrary, 1865. The greater part of the increase observable arose on French account, the exports to France amounting during the month to .173,375 tons, as compared with 132,732 tons '5n February, 1866. and 114,269 tons in Eebruary, 1865. The exports during the two months ending Febraaay 23^ this year, amounted to 1,182,359 tons as compared with 1,122,658 tons to the corresponding date of 1866, and an i 1,069,740 tons to the corresponding date of 1865. The exports to France in the two months show a very great advance as compared with the corresponding dates of 1866 and 1865, having been 332,687 tons against 285,197 tons and 239,357 tons respectively. The exports increased C in the first two mouths of this year to Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Prussia, the Hanse Towns, - Holland, France, and Spain, but they declined in / Italy, the United States, Brazil and British \ India. The value of the coal exported in Februrary was L 324,557, as compared with L 288.826 in Februrary, 1866, and L 263,198 in Februrary, 1865 j for the months ending Februrary 28 this year the value of our coal exports was L 625.571, as compared with L 585,837 in the corresponding period of 1887, and L 530,952 in the corresponding period of 1865.
