Public Notices. BYE-LAWS PASSED BY THE WARDENS OF THE FOREST HILL HUNDRED, AT A MEETING HELD ON THE 3rd OF OCTOBER, 1867. RULE 1. That any person depasturing stock of any description on the. said Hundred, who shall not hare taken out a depasturing license, shall forfeit and pay for such offence a sum not exceeding five pounds, and the cattle may be impounded in any public pound, 2. That no person shall be allowed to depasture more than- one head of cattle, over the age of six months, for every three anrfia nf lan/i ~-ti»u lie or she occupies in the Hundred ; and any person depasturing more than specified shall forfeit and pay for any such offence a sum not exceeding five pounds. 3. All stock over the age of six months depastured on the Hundred shall be branded with the registered brand of the owners thereof, and unbrauded stock above the age of six months found on the Hundred may be impounded, and dealt with according to law. 4. No diseased cattle shall be depastured on the Hundi'ed, and any one who shall turn out or depasture any diseased beast shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds. 5. That no bull over the age of six months, or entire horse over the age of twelve months, shall be allowed to depasture on the Hundred without a. written permission from the Wardens, or a majority of them, who may also withdraw such permission at any time upon giving the owner of such bull or entire horse notice in writing ; and any person or persons who shnll turn out or depasture any bull or entire horse over the specified ages without having previously obtained a written permission from the Wardens or a majority of them, or who shall neglect to remove within one week after receiving notice of the withdrawal of permission to depasture any bull or entire horse, shall forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding five pounds for every such offence. 6. All persons depasturing stock on the Hundred shall furnish to the Wardens, on or before a day to be fixed or named by them by advertisement in one of the local papers, a return shewing the numbers, brands, and description of all stock over the age of six months depasturing on the Hundred by each of them ; and hi the event of any person or persons bringing more stock on the Hundred, or taking out a license for depasturing stock thereon after that date, he or she shall make a like return within three weeks from the time of taking out such license or bringing on said s f ock, and whosoever shall make a false return or fail to make such return as aforesaid shall forfeit and pay for every such offence a sum not exceeding five pounds, and the said cattle may be impounded. 7. The Wardens may at any time call upon license-holde! s to makea return, giving thenumber, description, and brands of all stock depasturing on the Hundred belonging to him or her, or in his or her custody ; also the number of acres which he or she occupies in the Hundred for which the license was granted ; and any licenseholder neglecting or refusiug to make such return within one month after having been requested by notice in writing to make such return, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds. 8. Any person wili'ully disturbing or harrassing stock depasturing on the Hundred shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds, provided always that a holder of a depasturing license within the Hundred, or any person duly authorised in his or her behalf, may drive such stock for the purpose of collecting such as belong to him or her, and for the free and legitimate use of his or her right of pasturage within the Hundred ; but in the event of its being necessary for such purpose to drive any stock belonging to any other person a greater distance than half a mile, the person so driving such stock must take them to the nearest available stock-yard, and there separate his or her own from those of any other person, and return the latter to the place from which they were driven, failing to do so shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds. 9.' Any person removing stock beyond the Hundred, other than those belonging to him or her, or for the removal of which he or she shall not have an authority, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence a sum not exceeding five pounds. 10. Any stock not being the property of, or which are not branded with the registered brand of the holder of license under which they are depastured, or which are depastured on the Hundred in contradiction of any bye-law duly passed, may be impounded, and the owner or custodian of such stock may be proceeded against for trespass, and shall forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding five pounds. 11. That any person intending to travel with, or drive cattle through, the s-aid Hundred into a^iy adjoining Hundred, freehold, or leasehold, Bh.Jl give not less than twenty-four hours' notice in writing, stating the number, brands, and other particulars of such stock to the nearest Warden, who, upon being satisGed that such stock are free from disease, shall give a written authority to the owner or party in charge of such stock for, driving through, the said Hundred, provided always that cattle of bona fide travellers on their journey when turned out be not considered trespassers if not more than three nights in the same neighborhood ; failing to do so, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence a sum not exceeding five pounds. 12. All or any of the acts authorised by these bye-laws may be .enforced by any of the Wardens, Ranger, or other person duly authorised in that behalf.
