COMMERCIAL.
The expected movement for the reduction of discount to two per cent, has caused a marvellous advance in the public securities, Consols have gone up two and a half per cent since last month, being at present (26th June) 98f. The stock of gold in hand in the Banks of England and Trance amounts to £58,000,000. Many failures in the iron trade are reported in Staffordshire ; also amongst the members of the Stock Exchange of London. The latter, are owing to the sudden rise of the Funds. Business is altogether more favourable owing to the restriction of political and financial excitement, and the restoration of confidence. The suspension of Messrs Harford, and also of a Mr J. Ebsworth, underwriting " firms of Lloyd's, has been announced. The Soutn Australian Banking Company's dividend is at the rate of 8 per cent. '
