We understand that -■■ Mr " Simpson, the Provincial Engineer, has bo far forgot his position as -to -canvass jfor votes: amongst the railway; employes for Messrs Menzies, Beatt, Lttmsden, and Ross. .Was it for such service as this that the present Executive appointed him Provincial Engineer ? Such practices should not be tolerated for a single instant. The privilege of voting, in accordauce with the electors' conscience is a sacred right, and no intimidation or threats should be permitted to interfere with it. We trust that His Honor will take notice of Mr. Simpson's conduct, and cause such measures to be adopted as will prevent a recurrence of so shameful a proceeding. A Provincial Engineer is not paid out of the public purse to act as a party electioneering agenti
