The election at the Aparima has resulted in the return of Messrs Howell and Basstian, both anti-railway men. This is what we expected. The constituency is a small one, and chiefly opposed to railways. The nomination for the district of Rosslyn takes place to-day. There are four candidates, viz. : — Messrs Swale, Johnson, Kinross, and Perkins. The two first are railway candidates ; the two latter are opposed to progress. It is to be hoped that the railway candidates will be returned by a large majority. Let the electors of Roaslyn return none but men pledged to support the railway scheme, and a Superintendent who is able and willing to carry the wishes of the Council into effect. The polling will take place on Saturday next.
