At a recent meeting of the Acclimatisation Society of New South Wales, Mr Emerson, in a paper on the subject of oyster fisheries, estimated the annual sapply to Sydney at 31,200 bags, e}ual to 109,200 bushels, which supply, could be doubled, if required. The oyatei* fisheries find direct employment for at least 250 persons, seven small vessels, besides those brought, by the steamboats. The yearly export of oysters principally to Victoria., he estimated at 63,000 bushels, of the value of £13,500 j and the home consumption of the Colony at 46,200 bushels, valued at £16,500. These are encouraging figures for those who contemplate laying down oyster-beds in the vicinity of lavercargiU or Stewart's Island.
