The Prince of Wales haa been enthusiastically received, in Paris. ", : The Princess of "Wales is recovering. : The Duke of Edinburgh has joined the Galatea at Marseilles, en route to Australia via Madeira, Rio Janeiro, and the Cape of Good Hope. All the crowned heads of Europe have visited the Paris Exhibition, excepting Queen Victoria. The Conservative Ministry is still in office. Mr Lowe has delivered a masterly speech denouncing recent legislation as tending to socialism. Mr Mill has also delivered an able speech in favour of the admission of women to the franchise. His motion was lost by a large- maj ori ty . The main features of the Irish Eeform \ Bill are a £A franchise in boroughs, and £B. in counties, with' voting papers. ■ The "Scotch Bill of Eeform is opposed by a majority of -the Scotch members, i who support . the borough franchise and & re- distribution scheme. Lord Stanley's conduct and firm demeanour in the Luxemburg question has met the approval of all Europe. ; Deputations of English workmen have waited "on the French Emperor to thank him for his encouragement of English industry. Napoleon replied that the constant arm of his policy was complete concord and amity with England. .. Mr Bayley, in Parliament, asked Sir J. Pakington upon whose recommendation the cast iron guns, tubed with wrought iron, were now being supplied to the Victorian government. Sir John Pakington replied that such guns were not suitable, and would not be admitted into the British service. The Victorian government, not having applied to the War Office in the matter, but having purchased the guns through their own agents, he could not answer the question. The " London Gazette " of May 21 announces that after the 14th of July the British North American colonies shall be one dominion named Canada. ! Mr George Peabody has returned to England to reside permanentlyin London.
