Business during, the > past -, month has been: somewhat dull, 1 but. when; compared; with the gtatein which trade is in other provinces,:. we may congratulate ourselves on , the healthy tone which our , market still maintains, -and the absence; of - over trading or undue spepulatidhs:Indeed, for a long time pa'sfv the trade-6f this ; Province has beeni gradually, 'but. surely'progressing, 1 and we are beginning to -find out that, 1 with but; few exceptions, most articles required' for home ; -consumption can -be- grd wn in L tHe': Province. -To this feet may be attributed, tp a J^reat extent, the decrease in the customs revenue, for where formerly we imported oats, flour, bacon, cheese, and other staple articles, we now can obtain as good, :T not superior articles of provincial growth.'
