A CiEßicAii Peotest Against " Pickwtok." — A novel interruption to a " Penny Reading " entertainment occurred the other evening at Earndon, a village in Cheshire. One of the readers, a Mr Philiip3, commenced a passage from " Pickwick," when, without any explanation or warning whatever, the incumbent of the parish, who was present, peremptorily ordered the reader to stop ; and, strange to say, the reader obeyed, and retired. The explanation which may be inferred from the exercise of priestly authority is that Mr Ji>hn3tone, the clergyman, did not consider •' Pickwick" an im» proving book,—" Oqwestry Advertiser." ,
