COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

Times Office, Thursday Evening. The following are the Customs returns for:— > WEDN33DAT, J*D*N_s 12.

We extract the following items of commercial intelligence from the latest Dunedin papers. The "Daily Times," 7th inst., says : — -'Without having relapsed into dullness, business has, in the import market particularly, presented nothing of interest. A fair demand for miscellaneous stock for up-country and export requirements has been experienced, and there has been inquiry both for sugars and teas, the transactions coming under notice having in the latter been to greater extent and with increased firmness and improvement in prices. Provisions of all kinds are scarce ; the transactions in bacon and hams are limited to the merest trade parcels. Butter is in small supply — good parcels readily saleable.' Stouts in glass, guaranteed parcels, and ales in bulk, have been moving slightly, but without any change in rates. Spirits and wines quiet — values unaltered.'*
