Pomt — yes, 23, no, 5 ; "West Tairi — yes, 35, no, 0 ; Beaumont—yes, 47, no, 0; Horse Shoe Bend — yes, 20, no, 3 ; Arrowtown — yes, 14, no, 3. Yesterday, the Gold Fields Committee brought up their iniervnn report. Warden Robinson; Every, Sub-Trea-surer ; and H. Livingstone ' (clerk to receiver of Land Revenue), refused to answer questions before the committee. The committee requested the speaker to issue warrants, demanding' their appeai*anee at the bar of the House. In theTevening the sergeant-at-arms called their names. Only Livingstone appeared. He declined to answer any questions, giving as a reason — "instructions from Colonial Treasurer," not con-: tempt of Council. House resolved not to fine him. Fined Robinson, £19, or seven days' imprisonment ; Every, £5, or 24 hours. • Last night an advertisement appeared signed by Richardson, on behalf of Colonial Secretary, warning the public and the police, of the illegality of the ordinance passed by the Council, providing for' the administration of justice on the Gold--fields ; and announcing that infririgments of the Goldfields Act will be followed by the utmost rigor of the law. ] Wellington, 3rd June. , The Governor has had a grand reception in Auckland.
