• Mr Todd reports his sale at the Waikivi, -of the Crops, Stock, and Furniture, of the late Capt. Junor, on Wednesday, as having been exceedingly well attended, and prices realized highly satisfactory. Notwithstanding the distance from town/and bad roads,: upwards bf a hundred people attended thesale, while the spirited cor-n-petition displayed, showed most of them to be bona fide buyers, and that a good demand really exists for valuable property of every description. On the morning of the 29fch instant, on the Rivsrton Beach, and close to the Waimatuku crossing, a "Spring-cart was discovered, capsized, and underneath it was found the body of a man quite cold, stift7 and lifeless, which was recognised as that of Joseph Patten, who left Invercargill for Riverton the day previous. The body was removed to Riverton by the police where an inquest will be held 1 . The Wardens of the Invercargill Hundred are carrying out their duties;by impounding cattle. Parties who have not' yet taken out their Depasturing Licenses would do well to repair their omission as soon as possible, and thereby save themselves considerable annoyance and expense. We learn with pleasure that the members of the Amateur Dramatic Club intend to give, a performance at the Theatre Royal on the 14th proximo. The pieces selected are "Nan the Good-for-nothing," a comic interlude, "The Unwarrantable Intrusion," and Byron's new burlesque extravaganza, "111-treated II Trovatore." The gentlemen of the Instrumental Musical Association are to form the orchestra. The purpose to which the proceeds of the entertainment are to be devoted has not been decided. We venture to suggest that the funds of the Provincial Hospital may be seasonably supplemented.
