. <• DUNEDIN. 4 p.m., May 18th. Tlie Correspondence between Mr Richmond and the Superintendent haa appeared in the " Daily Times." Richmond requests the Superintendent to recall the instructions under which the agents of the Provincial Government took forcible possession of Court-houses, documents, &c., and that these may be placed in the hands of officers acting under the authority of the Grovernor. Mr Richmond adds, that if the General Government are advised that the Provincial Government have ground in law for detention, the surrender shall be without prejudice. The Superintendent replies that he is at a loss to know in what capacity Richmond addresses him. He acknowledges respectfully his position as Minister, but cannot admit that individual members of the Executive are at liberty to roam about the colony armed with the full powers of the Execu° tive. He reminds him tha;fc the Goldfields delegated powers have been given to Stafford, and enquires if Richmond on his behalf supercedes Bradshaw ? He concludes by delaying reply to enquiries until he receives application in the capacity under which Richmond claims the right to address him. "Welletoton, Friday. : Victoria Cross presented to Major Heaphy, 11th inst. General Chute was present, and all the Imperial and local forces were paraded. The Governor is at the Kauwau. The people of Auckland are preparing to give him a public reception. ISine houses have been burned in Wyndham-street, Auckland, origin unknown.
