TURKEY.
The Viceroy of Egypt lias demanded the right of- assuming the title of Caliph of Egypt, of sti-iking coin in his own name, of increasing the strengbh of the Egyptian army to 100,000 men, and of appointing officers to the highest rank of mioskir. These demands are eon* sidered equivalent to a proclamation of Egyptian independence of tha Porte. Modifications effected in Tur'tish Mrnistry. The insurrection in Crete was practically suppressed, but guerilla warfare continued.
